
L.A. Care Health Plan and Blue Shield of California Promise Health Plan hosted 11 back-to-school events throughout Los Angeles County this summer to help families ease the financial stressors of sending their children back to school. As part of their annual back-to-school event, L.A. Care and Blue Shield of California Promise Health Plan gave away 16,500 backpacks. Each Community Resource Center distributed 1,500 backpacks with free school supplies. Families received a wide range of education and social assistance resources from participating community-based organizations, including free food.
