In Booth 2227, Attendees Invited to See New Software Solution Providing Animated View of Lung Function Using Existing X-Ray Technology

SAN FRANCISCO, CALIF., (May 13, 2022) – American Thoracic Society attendees are invited to view 4DMedical’s unique XV imaging solution on display at this year’s ATS Conference in booth 2227. 4D Medical’s XV imaging software has currently begun its first commercial use by doctors at Providence St Joseph Hospital in Orange, Calif., to gain insight into regional lung performance. 4DMedical’s XV imaging solution is FDA-cleared, patented and ready for immediate integration with existing X-ray environments.

           “With this new imaging tool, physicians can detect areas of high and low ventilation with pinpoint accuracy across all parts of the lung, in all phases of the breath,” said Ray Casciari, MD, a pulmonary physician with more than 40 years of experience at Providence St Joseph Hospital, Orange. “The resulting ventilation report is extremely clear and easily understood by providing clinicians with a color-coded and dynamic visualization of the patient’s breathing lung, enhanced with four-dimensional animation.”

           Doctors are considering the use of four-dimensional scans in treatment plans for patients with long-term COVID.

           “The latest data suggest that anywhere from 10 to 30% of patients will experience continuing symptoms following a COVID diagnosis – even if they didn’t initially experience significant illness,” said Andreas Fouras, PhD, CEO of 4DMedical. “Our team at 4DMedical is increasingly focused on how to quantify and assess the lingering effects of those expressing long-term COVID.”

           4DMedical’s XV Technology™ is a cloud subscription service and can be implemented immediately with no capital expenditure by using existing hospital and clinical infrastructure. Imaging departments electronically transmit radiographic images collected with existing X-ray fluoroscopy equipment to 4DMedical. The XV Technology software automatically analyzes and applies its proprietary algorithms to identify and quantify regional functional impairment in both lungs. The resulting report numerically quantifies and graphically displays the regional impairments, which can then be used by clinicians to better understand the patient’s current functional state and assess the most effective therapeutic action.

Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center Partners with the Los Angeles County Office of Violence Prevention to Give Away Free Gun Locks

According to the Los Angeles County Public Health Director Barbara Ferrer, a child is injured or killed from gun violence every 30 hours in L.A. County. Just in 2022, more than 500 people died after being shot with a gun. With gun shot wounds up, Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center (PVHMC) will distribute free gun locks to the public with no questions asked. The public can pick up the gun locks from a distribution box inside of the hospital’s emergency room 24/7. PVHMC is among a handful of local hospitals to receive free gun locks from the Los Angeles County Office of Violence Prevention in efforts to reduce accidental gunshot wounds and deaths. To introduce the program to the public, PVHMC partnered with the Pomona Police Department to demonstrate how to use the steel cable gun locks. PVHMC Medical Director of Trauma Services Michael Jimenez M.D. demonstrated ‘Stop the Bleed’ techniques to teach the public how to stop major hemorrhaging with tourniquets and properly applied pressure until first responders arrive. PVHMC Trauma Services averages about 12 patients a year with accidental injuries from a firearm with the average of patients ranging from ages 2 – 58. AltaMed’s My Vote. My Health. Partners with Los Angeles County Registrar Recorder to Improve Access to Voting

According to the Pew Research Center, 8.5 million Latinos are eligible to vote in California, more than any other state in the country. In 2020, 53% of eligible Latino voters voted in the presidential election. AltaMed Health Services’ My Vote. My Health., a nonpartisan initiative aims to increase voter turnout in underserved communities and promote civic engagement to Latino communities. To make voting more accessible, AltaMed regularly partners with the L.A. County Registrar Recorder to bring Flex Voting Centers to its health clinics. Over the course of two weeks, AltaMed, one of the nation’s largest federally qualified community health centers, offered 15 early voting locations for the community Days before the election, Dean C. Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center Installs Naloxone Distribution Box for Overdose Awareness Week

Overdose Awareness Week seeks to bring attention to the more than 100,000 lives lost every year in the U.S. to drug overdoses. The CDC has reported that for the first time in ten years, the number of fatal overdoses has not increased and is holding steady. This month, Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center (PVHMC) installed a Naloxone Distribution Box outside of its emergency department with free Naloxone and Fentanyl test strip kits to anyone who needs them, with no questions asked. PVHMC is one of the few hospitals in the area with a Naloxone Distribution Box. Teach Democracy Hosts 43rd Annual California Mock Trial Finals

Teach Democracy , formerly known as the Constitutional Rights Foundation, a Los Angeles-based non-profit that provides nonpartisan civic education through interactive programs for youth, hosted its 2024 California Mock Trial Finals at the Stanley Mosk Courthouse in Los Angeles. This year’s state finals welcomed 550 students from 32 high school teams from 31 counties in California to argue the fictitious murder case of People v. Clark, in which a CEO of a company is murdered after an IPO goes awry. Hundreds of parents, teachers, and coaches joined the competitors in the courtroom galleries to watch students argue the case in front of real judges. To further expand access to voting, the Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk Dean C. Logan joined AltaMed Health Serivces's My Vote. My Health. campaign to provide flex and mobile vote centers at AltaMed clinics throughout Los Angeles County. AltaMed expanded its non-partisan My. Vote. My Health program statewide with the California Primary Care Association to improve voter turnout among Latinos ahead of the 2024 election. AltaMed hosted 15 vote centers and 1 ballot drop box where patients, providers, staff, and members of surrounding communities could cast or drop off their ballot via a secure county drop box at their local, trusted AltaMed clinic.
